The Wave Projects is an interdisciplinary non-profit organization founded in 2019, we focus on creating projects that result in people-place connections.
We utilize community design and digital marketing tools in our project planning process, working towards the greater goal of having place-led designed communities.
Joyce Liu
CEO & Founder
Leading the team Joyce is a Chinese Woman Entrepreneur who is a foodie at heart and has a passion for community design and filmmaking! You will find Joyce involved in many cool projects and initiatives, advocating for her love for cultures, people, place and herself! She founded Lumi Studios and is currently working on bringing exciting initiatives fueling her love for Food and Place-making through The Waves Projects.
Fuki Asai
Community Designer & Project Manager
Fuki Asai is from Japan and passionate about urban planning, specifically transportation and community building. Fuki is the Co-organizer of Sakura Market since 2023 with two Japanese friends. She believes connecting people and places through events are important to enrich the experiences and living in a city/community. Fuki is currently working at Halifax Regional Municipality as a Planner I with the Transportation Planning Team.
Off the Eaten Path
Off The Eaten Path is Halifax’s Food Incubator, supporting food entrepreneurs looking for access to an affordable kitchen space, business training programs, a channel to grow their business sales and marketing strategy development.
Know Your Vaccine
Know Your Vaccine is an engaging, interactive and multi-lingual platform offering transparent, reliable and trusted vaccine information sourced directly from top health-care workers to underserved communities in Nova Scotia.
Dancing Plaza
Inspired by Square Dance in China, we hope to bring a Halifax version of ‘Square Dance’ - Dancing Plaza Initiative, an all-age friendly outdoor activity that invites communities to dance together in public spaces.
EMBRACE
EMBRACE is a video series exploring deep ties of Nova Scotia and focuses on community led-businesses showing people and products behind local brands that make up the character and feel of the province. The purpose of EMBRACE is to create a strong sense of community by showcasing how Nova Scotians are addressing global issues LOCALLY through their businesses.
